The Women’s Glee Club has auditions at the start of every semester (fall and winter).
Frequently asked Questions
▼ Q: What song should I prepare to sing for my audition?
A: You should prepare about one minute of a song of any genre that you feel comfortable and confident with! No need for a track or sheet music.
▼ Q: Will I be asked to sing anything else at my audition?
A: Yes! You will sing through a few scales with our director to determine your range, and you will be asked to sight-read a short passage from sheet music.
▼ Q: Are auditions stressful?
A: Absolutely not! Some current members will be there to guide you through the process and ease your nerves. We’d love to have you join WGC and are rooting for you!
▼ Q: What if I’m busy during the time auditions are happening?
A: No worries, just reach out to us at umwgc-exec@umich.edu, and we’d be more than happy to find something that works for you.
▼ Q: When does WGC rehearse?
A: We rehearse on Thursday and Sunday nights 7-9 pm at the MLB.
▼ Q: Is WGC a big time commitment?
A: Although WGC does rehearse twice a week and requires attendance at other events throughout the semester, it is very manageable. Most members participate in numerous other activities as well as WGC!
▼ Q: Is WGC a club or a class?
A: Both! We are a student organization that is also recognized as an SMTD choir. This means you register for WGC as a 1-credit class. We offer accomodations if WGC were to put you over 18 credits.
WE hope to see you at our next audition in fall 2025!
